If you are getting married around the winter holidays, you might want to consider getting a cake that is both wedding and Christmas themed at the same time.

According to Love to Know Weddings the best color of a Christmas wedding cake is a white cake that is then ornamented with Christmas colors and themes. Frostings should be in colors like red, crimson, burgundy, blue and plum. Ribbons and other embellishments should also be in those colors, as well as gold and silver. Gold and silver beading and even tiny bells also look good on Christmas wedding cakes.

Another interesting idea for a Christmas cake is to make either the body, filling or icing gingerbread or egg nog flavored. Many traditional wedding cake recipes are actually fruitcake recipes so the hybrid of wedding cake with a Christmas cake is actually quite a natural one.

There are also many clever ways you can ice or decorate this type of cake. It is quite easy to make snowflakes on the white icing base using stencils and colored sugar for instance. You can also make snowflakes out of icing sugar that is sprinkled through a stencil and onto the fondant or even the cake top.

You could also consider making a gorgeous pink and white cake or mint green and white cake by using candy canes or crushed canes to decorate it.

A nice idea for a Christmas themed cake topper is Mr. And Mrs. Claus, a male and female snowman or a pair of Christmas bells.
