Are you considering not having any wedding cake at your wedding at all? There are all kinds of ideas for alternative wedding desserts that will leave your guests equally satisfying. Here are just a few:
Donut tower. This idea, from Wedaholic, is to serve up a tower of doughnuts instead of the usual cake or cupcakes. These can be served up on tiered cake stands to as high as seven tiers.
Pancake stackers. Another offbeat idea would be to serve pancake stackers. These would be dishes stacked high with pancakes and your guests would have their choice of fruit sauces, syrups and toppings including more dessert like toppings like whipped cream.
Just Jello. You can fancy-up the traditional kiddie treat by serving champagne Jello. This is served in real champagne glasses and is made from real champagne, frothed up jello and a strawberry.
Pavlova treat. You might also want to consider serving a simple Pavlova with whipped cream and fruit. Serve it in elegant crystal dessert glasses.
Banana split. If the bride and groom are fans of ice cream why not serve each guest up a banana split in a traditional banana split boat? Another ice cream alternative is a sundae bar. Or, if the bride and groom are big baseball fans, why not serve the plastic baseball cap sundaes that you can get at a ball game – with the favorite team featured, of course!
Chocolate fountain. A fun (and delicious!) substitute for a cake is a chocolate fountain. This is a fountain the spews out chocolate of the flavor (white, milk, dark) of your choice. Your guests spear fruit and marshmallows on spears and then dip their fruit in the chocolate fountain. Melons, strawberries, pieces of pineapple and all berries are good choices for chocolate dipping. Nougat, shortbread and dried fruit can also be dipped in a chocolate fountain.
