The color palette for weddings just took a playful turn for winter and fall 2008/2009 especially when it comes to wedding cakes. Gone are the pinks and silvers and browns and golds that characterized last year’s wedding cakes. The hippest wedding cakes are now made with fondant that is dyed in the same types of hues that we used to see between the pages of the old Dr. Seuss storybooks.
According to an article about cake selection in brides.ca the hot pinks, oranges, greens, orange reds and bright yellows are the color of choice for the hautest of bakeries serving up wedding cakes in Canada. The shapes of these wedding cakes are also quite free flowing. The topsy turvy wedding cake with its off kilter layers will still be very much in fashion this season simply because they so suit the unusual colors of the fondant.
The only drawback to all this is that some of the reds and blues are so radioactive looking in these vividly colored confections that it makes you wonder if your wedding guests are going to be able to taste the food coloring!
