taj mahal wedding cake

If you want a cake that makes a statement, you should really look at the Taj Mahal cake. We found this cake at Mike’s Amazing Cakes. You have actually probably seen Mike on one of the Food Network cake challenges.

If you have ever had a chance to visit the real Taj Mahal in India, you will realize that this replica made in cake and fondant is truly a masterpiece. Also, while traveling to India, you will notice many local artists trying to recreate the beauty of the Taj Mahal in sculpture. The biggest problem with that usually turns out to be creating the straight lines. Many of the less well crafted sculptures look wobbly and like they are about to fall over.

This cake, however, is an architectural masterpiece. It looks solid and to scale, with tons of detail work such as in the windows, doorways, and spires.  The gold leaf adds a beautiful touch.

  2. This truly is a masterpiece. I have visited the Taj mahal more than once admiring its detailing. I can see how hard it could be to replicate something like that into a cake. Excellent work!! 10/10 Just curious, how long did it take for you to make this beautiful, delicious sculpture?
