live cat bouquetWant to use a bouquet that is eco-friendly? Instead of flowers, many brides are turning to the live cat wedding bouquet. Cats are a symbol of warmth and peace, and having them in the wedding is a way to symbolize those qualities in marriage.

The live cat bouquet is actually not new, but goes back to medieval times when carrying a cat across the threshold of a new home was considered good luck. In those days, most weddings were performed at the home and carrying the cat across the threshold was a common part of the ceremony.  It was only later that the tradition transformed into actually carrying the bride across the threshold in place of the cat.

So, if you want to use a tradition that goes back centuries, just carry a cat down the aisle. We just don’t recommend that you use a black one and that you remember that today is April Fool’s Day.
