If you are looking for a wedding gown that is plush, jeweled and a bit risqué then you want to take a look at he designs of YSA Makino. This is a very unique designer whose creations are a cross between both modern and ancient Japanese designs. For instance, one dress that he has created called nothing more than the 1423 looks like a cross between a white fox and a silver carp. The short skirt is made from petal like flaps of fabric and the bodice is capped with a short sleeved silver fur.

Some of his more unique designs also have interesting origami-like finishes to them. One dress has a sleek bodice that fits tightly to the knee and then cascades open into a flurry of triangles that almost look like paper cranes. A similar design features a cascade of white feathers flowing from the bodice to the floor.

This designer does have some straighter wedding gown designs but they are elaborately draped and often feature netting with sequins or rhinestones. One design looks like the bride is wearing a garden of white fabric roses. However for the most part many of his couture designs have a costume like aspect to them, which is, of course, not everybody’s cup of tea.

If you are into “art” and a bit avant garde in your tastes and have a great deal of money then think of investing in one of the Ysamakino creations which are respected world wide for their originality and sensuality.

  6. I actually had Ysa Makino do a full custom one of a kind wedding gown last year. The gown is (in my opinion) more beautiful than this one features a full over embroidered full beaded bodice which is then heavily adorned with swarovski stones. The skirt is layers of verticle silk ruffles, mixed with gorgeous rhinestone organza open roses, then added in is layers of ostrich feathers. My gown features a very very long train (with feathers). New was $14,950 not including alterations. I have it at the best rated cleaner in the country which will cost me another $795 to clean. (just the normal wear on the hem and underside) but I am possibly interested in selling my gown for a fraction of the cost, If you are interested you can email me at littlelibs@yahoo.com and I can send you detailed photos along with measurements, etc.
