In the Nashua Telegraph there is a great story about a woman named Ruth Marchel who has collected vintage wedding gowns over the years.
Among her prizes in her collection is a Miriam of New York wedding gown from 1939 which was made from ivory satin and had a fitted bodice that is almost like a chastity belt with the bodice fitting from below the waist to the back of the high neck. The dress also has twenty-five fabric buttons.
Another prize in her collection is a Hattie Carnegie gown from 1945, which is unpleated silk and has a lace yoke that is fitted to the waist. It is also a long waisted dress.
