Weirdly, black shoes are considered to be suitable for just about every formal occasion except for a wedding. This is because they tend to look too formal or even too casual beneath a long wedding dress. It really does depend on the type of dress you are wearing. For instance a black retro flat tends to look better with a shorter more old-fashioned dress that looks like it belongs in the sixties.

It can take ages to find just exactly the right color of ecru. One of the nicest effects for a wedding is a black shoe made out of ribbons that is gladiator style. If the ribbon has a lot of sheen to it and looks expensive they can be quite glamorous. You might also want to try a glamorous pair of teacup pumps.
