feet in high heelsSwelling feet are most commonly associated with pregnancy, but anyone’s feet can swell. It is rare that feet swell to the point that shoes no longer fit, but it can definitely make your wedding shoes uncomfortable. Here are some tips for preventing swelling feet on your wedding day:

Tip #1: Sit down. The longer you’re on your feet, the more your feet will swell. When you don’t have to be standing, sit down and let yourself be pampered.

Tip #2: Stay cool. Heat can make your feet swell, so stay cool if possible.

Tip #3: Keep your shoes off until you’re ready to walk down the aisle. Shoes that are tight or made of material that doesn’t breath can cause swelling and, at the very least, sweating.

Tip #4: Don’t eat salt the morning of your wedding. Salt causes you to retain fluids, and can contribute to swelling feet. In the 12 hours before your wedding, avoid salty foods.

Tip #5: Don’t cross your legs. You can disrupt the circulation in your legs and cause your feet to swell.

Keep in mind that swollen feet can be a sign of a serious medical condition, so if you often deal with this problem, talk to your doctor.
