It also has to be done fairly early, since all other aspects of your wedding, from bridesmaid dresses to table centerpieces, will fit into your color scheme. Talk about pressure.

So, how do you do it? Some brides-to-be know exactly the colors they want from the moment they’re five years old and dressing up their dolls to marry their teddy bears. Others, well…let’s just say that it’s not as simple for everyone. I’ve heard of brides making color changes just a few months before the big day. Nothing brings out the bridezilla faster than having to reorder and rush new dresses, flowers, etc.

The best tip for choosing your color (and being happy with your choice) is to take into consideration the colors of the season. If you like bright green, get married during the summer. This isn’t to say that if buttercup yellow is your favorite color, you can’t use it for a December wedding. However, if you are really, truly on the fence about colors, take a look at nature during the month when your wedding will be taking place. As Stacy over at Wedding Tactics says, think theme, and looking to nature for your theme is a great idea.

In January, make your New England wedding a winter wonderland. Think of the colors of the sun on the snow - blues and purples along with crystals and glitter make a “cool” wedding color scheme. In October, use the color of the changing leaves to inspire your wedding. Rich browns, golds and oranges look stunning together.

Whatever colors you choose, remember that it can be very stressful and expensive to change your mind later. Before you finalize that decision and begin planning around the colors, make sure that you’re absolutely certain that the colors your choose are perfect for you - and your groom.
