Some couples do not permit children at their wedding ceremony or reception because they think the kids will become unruly or a distraction. Others simply want to have an adult-only party. However, if you decide that you want to include children at your wedding reception, there are several things you can do to help both the children and their parents to have a good time.
If you have a lot of toddlers and young children coming to your reception, arrange with the venue to set up a designated play area sectioned off from the main ballroom or reception area.
Hire a sitter or child care professional to oversee the area, entertain the children and keep them under control. Provide board games, books and perhaps even video games to keep the children occupied.
By having a separate, supervised play area, kids won’t get bored and parents can enjoy themselves. Most of the time when children act up at a wedding or other public event, it’s because of boredom. You can also include some children’s music on you DJ play list. It’s very cute to get all the young kids out on the dance floor.
Overall, if you make a little extra effort, it’s not that difficult for everyone to enjoy having kids at a wedding reception.
