GrapesAs many couples become more eco-conscious, they try to add “green” ideas into their wedding planning. Though you may choose to not “go green” completely for your wedding, here are some wedding planning tips created with the environment in mind.

In many areas, organic flowers are not available for purchase and if they are, they can be quite pricey. The most important thing is to buy local and try to find a florist that does not use pesticides. Also, tell your florist not to use wires or oasis foam. For centerpieces, add soy pillar candles for another “green” touch.

Instead of having a completely vegan or organic meal, support your local farmers by selecting locally grown food and wine. Ask for organic, hormone-free chicken and beef. Do not allow plastic water bottles to be used at your reception.

Skip the wedding favors. Instead give a donation to a local environmental cause. Let your wedding guest know about the donation with an announcement at the reception.

Remember to print wedding invitations and all other wedding stationery on recycled paper!
