Sometimes the stress, excitement, and anticipation bring out little monster in all of us, so groom-zillas beware! And try these tips to come back to reality:
1) Get involved from the beginning. The longer you wait to put in your two cents, the bigger frustration you will face. Avoid a huge blow out now by being a part of the entire wedding process. Start by reading The Groom Guide to learn about the ins and outs of a wedding in addition to your traditional responsibilities.
2) Be careful about being in charge. While being involved is good, do not let your fiancée say, “why don’t you just handle _________ and I will take care of ___________.” Many wedding planners have seen this quickly explode into a competition, and it also emphasizes any differences in styles you may have. Instead, share your ideas and find your style as a couple, not as individuals.
3) Have fun with it. Are you groomzilla at heart? Then playfully respond with a fun t-shirt, don’t react with anger. Everybody deals with stress differently, but remember, this is your wedding day (the happiest day of your life), after all.
Brides and grooms alike need to realize that the wedding planning process is a huge challenge. Tackling it together makes it more manageable and more memorable!
