Awhile back, Flowerella posted some great tips about ways to cut costs by replacing expensive flowers with inexpensive versions that look similar. That’s not the only way to save money at your wedding, though. Here are a few other ways you can cut corners by replacing expensive items with there less pricey alternatives. No one will even notice the difference!
- Instead of RSVPs by mail, ask for them by phone or email. If you invited 100 guests, that’s over $40 you’ll save in postage on the reply envelopes. Or, give guests an option - include an unstamped envelope for reply and include a reply phone number and email address. They can then choose whether they want to spend a few cents to mail the card or simply reply for free. Either way, you’re saving money without looking tacky. Give the task of tracking phone replies to one of the mothers or the maid of honor.
- Trade in a sit-down dinner for a buffet. Buffets are just as yummy, but cost a fraction of the price. As an added bonus, guests can pick the foods they want to eat. If you’re really set on a sit-down dinner, compromise and serve it family-style instead of paying a caterer to plate everyone’s food.
- Skip the banquet hall and host your reception at a local restaurant instead. Hotels and other fancy banquet halls are pretty, but for a cheaper option, have it hosted at a favorite restaurant instead. They’ll probably be willing to give you a package deal on catering and use of the venue.
Get creative! You wedding doesn’t have to be expensive to be beautiful. Think about alternatives that are friendly to your wallet when you’re planning parts of the ceremony and reception.
