FoodNo, we’re not talking about picking out the caterer. In fact, unless you have a formal supper (and in some cases not even then) it is likely that you will get little to nothing to eat at the reception. You are not just the guests of honor, you are also the hosts, and when you are not enjoying first dances, gracefully being put in the spotlight to accept speeches, and tossing bouquets and garters, you will be greeting and thanking guests and accepting congratulations.

If you don’t eat right on your big day, you may find that you are out of energy long before the day is over. The answer is not to eat a huge meal before the ceremony, though. That could leave you feeling sick if you eat too much. Instead, try to eat a small but healthy meal just before you leave for the ceremony. Fruit, cheese, and a glass of water is a good snack that will help to energize you and keep your energy level up.

To sneak food in when you can, make sure that you have a bunch of grapes or some other healthy snack stashed in the car on the way to the reception so that you can be sure to keep your energy level up until you actually have a chance to eat. And don’t be surprised if that ritual bite of cake is the first that goes in your mouth at the reception! Check out these quick and healthy snacks for a boost!
